Finding My Blogging Rhythm

"Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now" ~Alan Lakein

Like many runners I am a bit of a creature of habit.  Especially when it comes to things that really matter to me, things that I really care about and take seriously.  I like to have a pattern, a schedule, a plan.  I like to know in my head what my goal is and how I am going to achieve it.  I like to know what to expect on a day to day basis.  Tennis is going to happen on Mondays, Yoga class every Saturday morning, long runs are going to happen on Sundays, I am going to take my lunch to work every day this week because I made a list shopped for the things I needed and cooked and packed the meal the night before. Its how I make sure that the things that matter to me really happen.

Blogging is important to me.  I know I am very  new to this but I can tell you right now that this is important to me.  There is something very powerful about putting ideas in writing.  Something even more powerful about exposing those ideas to others.  When you have to put somthing in writing and put it out there especially in public, it makes it real.  The fact that I said on Tuesday that I am running a half marathon on March 5th, means that it is going to happen.  Not that it wouldn't have anyway, but now it has an extra dimension.  An added layer of commitment.  The fact that I said last week that finding healthy cookware is important to me makes it even more important.  Putting it in writing helps solidify that commitment and make it more current and timely.  Its hard to put something off until someday once you have put it in writing especially in public.  The process of publicly proclaiming what is important to you helps clarify who you are as a person.

Again, I know I am a baby newbie here in the blogging world, but I know that this is something that can have tremendous personal impact on my life.  The whole processes of noticing what you notice, putting it in writing and really fully flushing out thoughts and ideas can be transformative.  Blogging is important to me.

So having said all that, I am working on a blogging pattern, a schedule, a plan.  I think I need another day to let all my thoughts and ideas stew.  But tomorrow I am going to put it in writing, and then you and I will know what to expect going forward.

Hows that for a plan?  :)
