The Other Side Of Passion

“Don’t ask what the world needs.  Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.  Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” ~Howard Thurman

I am a person of many different interests.  I have many passions and it is sometimes hard for me to identify which one I want to focus my attention on.

I am passionate about creating things, beading, sewing and knitting.  I lam passionate about reading and learning things, romance, thrillers, non fiction, fantasy I love it all.  I am passionate about yoga and other mind-body practices.  I could go on.

There have been many topics that grab my attention.  That ignite something in me.  That make me come alive.  It is a regular occurrence for me to find something new that gets me excited.

"Follow your bliss!"  It’s good advise.  You hear this advise and automatically think of the things that bring you joy and make you want to share with the world.  That is one indicator to what your life passion is but if you are like me there might be lots of things that bring you job.

So maybe we need another indicator.   Maybe we need to look at the other side of passion.

Today I read this great post and it got me thinking.  What really gets me worked up?  What makes me want to rant?  What makes me angry?   I had never thought about the urge to rant and get upset as an indicator to my life passion but I think there might be something to it.

Even the most laid back person in the world has something that gets them worked up.  Those strong feeling, that need to rant, to get angry, to get really worked up, that is a gift.  A gift not to be taken for granted. The stuff that really gets you worked up, that elicits a rant from you, that is the stuff that is screaming “Right here!  Pick me! Pick me!”.  It is the big neon sign to your purpose in life.

The main reason I started this blog for me personally was to help me identify my passions.  To give voice to the topics I feel strongly about.  Maybe if I am lucky to help turn my passions into a career or business.  I really don’t know exactly what that is going to look like in the long run but I do believe that writing is one of the best ways to clarify ideas and to bring them into fruition.  To share ideas in public does so even more.

So I think maybe you are going to see a couple rant posts here in the near future.  I already have a couple posts practically written in my head.  That is a good sign.  That tells me something.  I already have lots to say and you are going to hear about it!  I am going to follow my big neon sign to my life passion.

What sends you into a rant?

  1. Isn't it fun to figure out what you're passionate about? I'm doing the same thing, and I love it!

  2. It is an amazing process! Thanks for stopping by Amy :)
